What we did in 2019

Here's a summary of some of what we did last year:


  • Camping -12 events
  • Sailing - to learn skills on the water, to explore the harbours, to race other Sea Scouts, and just to have fun
  • 22nd NZ Scout Jamboree- 9 days camping with thousands of other Scouts at Mystery Creek
  • World Jamboree - one of our Venturers travelled to the USA to camp with tens of thousands of other Scouts.
  • 4 Day Explorer Challenge trip organised totally by Scouts - a group of older Scouts traveled over 100km by walking and public transport
  • ANZAC Day Service at Mt Albert Presbyterian Church
  • SeePort Open Day on Cook’s Wharf
  • Tramping - the Venturers had a weekend in the Kaimai Ranges, plus local day walks to train
  • Piopio Adventure Weekend - caving, abseiling, 4wd, shooting and more
  • Winter Sailing Series
  • Games - quiet games, crazy games, thinking games, physical games, ball games, yes we play quite a few games (and if it isn't fun we probably won't play it again)
  • Cooking on open fires (and everything was edible)
  • A Scout attended the National Aviation School and flew a plane
  • Rope swing and rope climbing
  • Walked up Mt Albert and back via the new Oakley Creek Path
  • Tree climbing
  • Visited Star Dome
  • Upper North Island Scout Regatta  (Shakespear Regional Park) - sailing, rowing, camping, competitions (and we even won a trophy or two)
  • Painting/ Art 
  • Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta (sailing from Narrow Neck to Waiake Bay)
  • Guest Speakers
  • Swimming - in pools and the sea
  • Some Scouts and Venturers were cast members in Auckland Central Gangshow's 50th Anniversary show
  • Spring Regatta in Hamilton
  • Fundraising in Rocket Park
  • Orewa Beach Regatta
  • Canoe Carnival
  • Tree Planting
  • Park cleanup during Conservation week's 50th anniversary
  • Earned badges
