Nau mai, haere mai! Welcome to our new Scout Blog.

Nau mai, haere mai!
Pull up a comfortable corner of cyber space and settle in. This will be the place where the Ōwairaka Sea Scout Group shares the tales of its adventures and plans with the world.

Our suburb is on the verge of a huge growth spurt with the redevelopment of much of our immediate neighbourhood into around 1000 new houses over the next few years. Ōwairaka Sea Scouts plan is to be in the middle of that, continuing our 83 year commitment to providing skills and adventure for children and young people in our part of Auckland.

In keeping with SCOUTS NZ's commitment to safety for our members we'll usually only be using people's first names and reporting on activities that have already happened (Except for things like open days, fundraisers and public events where the whole community is invited). If you see something about yourself or your family on this blog that you aren't comfortable with please email owairakaseascouts@gmail.com and we'll edit the post as soon as we can.

Some of our first posts will be focused on gathering up some useful information and putting it in one place so that we can refer back to it. Then we'll launch into the serious business of telling everyone about the fun we have.
